Namaz, also known as Salah or Salat in Islam, is the most important pillar of the religion and it is mandatory for all Muslims to pray five times a day. The five prayers are divided throughout the day, starting from before dawn – Fajr – followed by Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib at Sunset and finally Isha at night, offering Muslims enough time to perform their day-to-day activities while fulfilling their most important duty: Namaz.
Prayers wipe out all the sins such is its significance. Each prayer time has specific spiritual significance and connects believers with their Creator throughout the day.
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him?" They said, "Not a trace of dirt would be left." The Prophet added, "That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds."
(Sahih Al Bukhari Volume 1, Book 10, Hadith # 506)
